As America flocked to the polls on Election Day (Cordia members did their part and voted early), Cordia’s Tuesday Forum program that same day was dedicated to zeroing in on the common ground that we know exists between the “Red” and the “Blue” members within our community. Our engaging discussion was a wonderful reminder of that which we already knew — within the “Purple” there are a lot of commonalities that bring us together.
Here is our members’ list of that which they share in common:
- Cordia as our home
- Our aging journey
- Compassion and care for one another through good times and bad
- Shared meals with different people allows us to converse with those who hold different points of view
- Great joy and admiration for our centurions
- Shared appreciation for natural resources of northern Michigan
- Shared curiosity and insatiable quest to continue learning
- Appreciation for connectedness to happenings in the Club via our in-house channel
- Opportunity to expand our personal gifts through art, music, and knowledge
- Appreciation for the Cordia staff
- Acknowledgment of one another and our life accomplishments
- Our setting within the Commons and neighborhood – the beauty buoys us up
- Shared hopes for our children, grandchildren and greats
- Shared worries for our families as well
- The pets that call Cordia home, too
- Shared club amenities
- Shared memories that we have made together
- Wellness staff and the sense of security they provide
- All free from virus thus far
- Shared responsibility for keeping our community safe
